A Distillation

Distillation: something that consists of the essential points, aspects, or implications of something larger or longer.

_MG_7159Most asked question: Are you excited? When we can catch our breath long enough to even think about it … well (sic) yes!

When do you leave? Tomorrow, Friday 15 August 2014, about 1:00pm, Cincinnati then Paris, then a 2-hour train to Rennes arriving Saturday about noon.

How long will you be there? Likely for a year or more. The first weeks will be in Rennes, then we’ll move down to Montpellier at the Mediterranean. After that we haven’t a clue. West to Spain and Portugal, or east to Italy and Greece, or … .

Will it be for just a year? Well that will depend on three factors. 1) Desire. Are we still having fun? 2) Health. 3) Budget. Which is why we want everyone to subscribe to this blog. Not that we have monetized it in any way … yet, but if we run out of money we might be able to sell your e-mail addresses on the black market (just kidding, of course).

Where might you settle when you return? Settle, as in settle down? Hrrrumph. See the three points above.

You guys are brave or crazy; followed by “I could never do something like that.” Well we never really considered it until recently. And while we aren’t necessarily brave or crazy, yes you could.

“A bit of advice given to a young Native American at the time of his initiation:
As you go the way of life, you will see a great chasm. Jump. It is not as wide as you think.”

~ Joseph Campbell

We have jumped.
